Local solutions: Achieving Drawdown in Centre County with Chris E Forest, Senior Fellow, Project Drawdown & Professor of Climate Dynamics at Penn State University
“Everybody complains about the weather, but nobody does anything about it.”
Charles Dudley Warner (Mark Twain’s friend)
“Climate is what we expect, weather is what we get.”
To address climate change, humanity must find ways to do something about the weather. Fortunately, the scientific conversations have shifted towards finding solutions to address climate change. As a climate scientist, I’ve worked primarily on understanding what we expect climate to be in the coming decades and centuries. As citizens, we all make choices that indirectly, and often with hidden effects, impact future climate and perhaps our local weather. I hope to start a discussion by asking what we can do about the weather by identifying solutions from Drawdown that we can do locally and contribute to the larger goal of reaching Drawdown for the planet.
