Colin Gilmore grew up in Lubbock, Texas, spending many nights as a child in nightclubs like Stubbs, where he witnessed songwriters like Joe Ely, Terry Allen, and his own father, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, bring the stage to life. He developed a taste for Buddy Holly, Townes Van Zandt, and bands like The Clash and The Pogues. For 14 years, Colin has been informed by these observations, writing songs and playing under his own name. Recently, he was selected to participate in an artist residency at the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, where he wrote some of his latest material. His album Goodnight Lane received 4-star reviews in Mojo and Uncut, and his latest album The Wild And Hollow was named “Best Americana/singer-songwriter album of 2013” in the Huffington Post.
This August, Colin is cutting a path across the Northeast in a string of duet shows with Chicago-based guitarist Jason Bennett (formerly of Bastard Sons Of Johnny Cash). The two have been playing together for over 8 years and in that time, they’ve found what really works. Whether they’re playing originals or songs that shaped their lives, they bring the joy from the stage to the hearts, heads and dancing shoes of the audience.
