POSTPONED! Hurricane Helene Benefit Concert Relief for Southern Appalachia

January 19, 2025 @ 4:30 pm

WITH HEAVY LAKE ERIE HEARTS, THE PLUG IS GETTING PULLED ON TODAY’S BENEFIT EVENT.
Please stay tuned for reschedule date.
Thanks and have fun playing in the snow!

On September 27th, 2024 after a deluge of rain from a separate storm, Hurricane Helene traveled up through the Blue Ridge Mountains and caused catastrophic flooding and landslides in an area that is not equipped or prepared for this kind of weather. Southern Appalachia was devastated; entire homes and businesses were washed into the French Broad and Swannanoa Rivers that crested at 24.67 ft and 26.1 ft respectively. It will take years for the region to rebuild and continued relief efforts through donations will be a vital part of recovery.

State College native Laura Boswell lived in Asheville for the last 6 years and is organizing a benefit concert to raise money for continued relief efforts in Western North Carolina. Given Laura’s and other AVL musicians history at Elk Creek, and our affinity for the music scene in WNC, we wanted to support her efforts to help.

Proceeds will go to Beloved Asheville, an organization that has been on the front lines of disaster relief since the hurricane. Eric Ian Farmer, Hannah Bingman, Danny Brumbaugh, and Laura will all play sets. There will also be local artwork available for purchase.

Please join us for some great local musicians, in support of the people and places devastated by these climate disasters.

Sun Jan 19,
from 4:30-7:30.
Donations will be collected at the door.

From Beloved:
“Backed by your support, BeLoved Asheville is dedicating every resource to those most affected by this disaster. Our immediate focus has been on critical necessities like food, water, and healthcare for survival and stability. As winter looms, we are securing warm and safe housing for the displaced. Looking further ahead, recovery from the vast destruction will be a large-scale investment over several years. We believe that we can unite to rebuild a community that embodies home, health, equity, and opportunity for all.”
